A little bird brings NHS attendees together

SPOKANE, WA, April 27, 2009 – With over 9 million people and organizations on Twitter, one can find "tweets" about virtually any subject. Case in point: @Fiskars_HQ tweets about scissors, @lambertpeatmoss tweets about soil, @SanterraGreen tweets about toilets, @WormFactory tweets about earthworms and @rescue tweets about insects. The 2009 National Hardware Show will bring together these Twittering companies and more.

Over two dozen National Hardware Show exhibitors and attendees who are active in Twitter are communicating online about a "Tweetup" – an in-person meetup of Twitter users – in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 6, which is Day 2 of the Show. Scheduled for 5:30 p.m., the Tweetup will take place at the Renaissance Hotel in their Envy Steakhouse. The hotel is located near the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Taking the lead in organizing the Tweetup is the marketing team at RESCUE!^® Pest Control Products. Marketing Director Stephanie Herrmann (Twitter handle: @rescue) has been tweeting since late 2008 and now has nearly 1300 followers.

"Twitter is proving itself to be an effective way for us to engage with current and potential customers," said Herrmann. "I'm compiling a list of other manufacturers and Hardware Show attendees who are also using Twitter. We're looking forward to having this social gathering at the Show so we can compare notes."
